Coding and computational thinking are a necessity for a 21st-century education, and it is crucial for kids
to begin learning the fundamental principles of science, coding, and engineering from a young age in
order to ensure success within our fast-paced technological society. Beginning with coding animations
with characters to make small cartoons, students’ progress over the 12 sessions of the class to design
computer games with their unique customized details and creativity.

Advanced Lego Robotics and Engineering

This class is broken down into 60 minutes of coding with Scratch, and 45 minutes of hands-on science and engineering in the second part of the class. Focusing on essential concepts such as force, and  machines and developing prototypes to solve problems, our students are able to tackle real-world  challenges and engineering topics. Some tasks include designing a recycling sorting device,  constructing ramps to avoid freewheeling, working with electrical circuits, and creating magnetic toys.  While they work and design, there is also a great emphasis on developing explanatory skills; often  asking students to present their models in front of the class, and discuss them with other teams and  students about their designs.

Learning Outcomes
